His national team face Colombia on Tuesday following their 3-0 defeat to Brazil.
Lionel Messi required the services of the Argentinian doctors after becoming dizzy and vomiting during his national flight from Buenos Aires to San Juan on Monday (14 November), according to Diario Ole. However the Barcelona star is in his hotel alongside the rest of his teammates and shouldn’t have any problem being fit for the Tuesday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Colombia.
The Ballon D’or winner has had a nightmare with Argentina since the summer defeat to Chile in the 2016 Copa America Centenario. The Barcelona forward even announced his retirement from international football following that loss only to change his mind two months later in order to help his country in their way to the World Cup 2018.
But Messi has since been only able to play a part in two of their five qualifiers due to different issues, while Argentina languish in sixth position of the table, with only 16 points from 11 matches.
The Barcelona star scored the winner against Uruguay earlier in October but missed the three following encounters against Venezuela, Paraguay and Peru due to injury, with his national team getting a draw in the first two games before losing to the Peruvians.
Messi also played against Brazil last week but was unable to avoid another setback as Argentina suffered an humiliating 3-0 defeat against Neymar and Co.
Argentina will be looking to bounce back when they host Colombia on Tuesday to keep alive their hopes to qualify for the World Cup.
But Diario Ole and a number of Argentinian publications are reporting another blow for the national team after their flight from Buenos Aires to San Juan was hit by severe turbulence.
Ole says that Messi and another unnamed player had a scare due to that turbulence. They added the Barcelona forward even required the services of the doctors after becoming dizzy and vomiting.
